Veterinary exams are crucial to our pets’ health in the same way that people need checkups with their family doctor. Regular veterinary exams (at least once every year) help us keep a close eye on your pet’s development and overall health. Some patients like those with ongoing health problems, or those who are senior age may need more frequent visits. If your pet is due for a checkup, or if you would like to learn more about our veterinary exams, please call us at 905-257-3700 .
Do you accept walk ins?
Here at North Oakville Animal Hospital, we prefer to schedule veterinary exams in advance. We will do our best to book you into a time slot that will work best for your routine and schedule. That being said, we understand that emergencies happen from time to time. If your pet needs urgent care, please call us ahead of time. That way, we can prepare for your arrival, or direct you to the nearest ER center if we cannot accommodate your pet during that time. Like other healthcare centers, we do experience busy/high volume days where we are at maximum capacity. In these situations, it is best for us to forward cases to other hospitals.
What happens during a veterinary exam?
Although every patient will require a different approach, most veterinary exams consists of a tip-to-tail visual check. The vet may also weigh your pet, measure them, check their breathing, motor skills, blood pressure, eyesight and more. You will also be asked about any concerns you may have about your pet’s health or any changes you may have noticed. It helps to write any concerns or questions you may have ahead of time.
How much does a veterinary exam cost?
For the most accurate estimates, please feel free to give us a call. Costs will vary from patient to patient. For example, the vet may discover something in your pet that requires further investigation with an X-ray, which can affect the total cost of your consultation.
